Laura from Aura named a PR pioneer in new book

#FuturePRoof has launched the community’s fourth book featuring PR pioneers

Once upon a time in PR is a book by #FuturePRoof founder, Sarah Hall, and is a departure from the norm. It tells the story of 21 larger-than-life characters who are doing things differently and helping the PR industry to grow and thrive today. Those featured include the industry’s ‘Severus Snape’, PRCA chief Francis Ingham, ‘agency alchemist’ Stephen Waddington and 'Alice in Wonderland', ME!Each of the industry protagonists is represented through an ink portrait and short story.PR pioneerWhen Sarah originally emailed me about the book I was really surprised I had been included, not because I don't think the work I do is worthwhile, but because it normally goes unnoticed and I've never been called a PR pioneer before! I don't do it for recognition though, I do it because I believe giving back, helping others and leading by example are important. It's part of my brand. On the back of being named in the CIPR's #70at70 campaign, being included in this very special book has made me realise it doesn't all go unnoticed and that the work I do through PRFest really must be valuable. To be featured alongside some of the biggest names in our industry is heartwarming and I don't mind admitting I shed a tear of delight when I found out. *blushes*

The book says, "In Alice in Wonderland we’re taught that moving out your comfort zone can lead to exciting adventures and new relationships. Sutherland has brought that same ethos to PRFest, a two-day public relations festival aimed at senior professionals. Now a key date in the industry calendar, Laura has continued to innovate through PR Space, a concept allowing practitioners to work on their business rather than in it."

In a release issued today, Hall said: “I wanted to celebrate some key players within our industry and have a bit of fun.“It was a very easy list to come up with. Everyone had to have some differentiating factor and something to teach others. The core purpose is the same as ever, to showcase best practice and the talent in public relations today.”The specially illustrated edition is a coffee table book and is priced at just £10 and available here. Well done Sarah, a lovely idea and the perfect Christmas gift!#FuturePRoof is a community and series of crowdsourced books created by Sarah Hall, President of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations and owner of Sarah Hall Consulting, to reassert public relations as a strategic management function. If you're in London, illustrations from the book will be displayed at the PRCA’s new member workspace on Bankside, London. The gallery will be launched on 30 November and you're welcome to stop by and have a look.
