The Scottish interiors scene has livened up with the recent launch of independent family business, Remnant Kings’, new store.
A new store has opened on Howard Street in Glasgow and I was invited to the launch event on Thursday, 28 September. Thanks to Lisa at Palompo PR for the invite!
The thing about Remnant Kings is, it has such a variety of interiors products – everything from wallcoverings and fabrics, to wipe-able table cloths, home accessories and a design and digital printing service for bespoke interiors. It also had ready-made products.
I headed along and of course bumped into some people I knew. Tracey who was there from i-on Magazine, Caitlin from Homes and Interiors Scotland and Alexis who writes The Youthful Edit.
There was champagne and canapes but I went for a wander round the store, as I’m on the hunt for some wallpaper for my new home office.
I was keen to speak to Harlequin, who had come along for the launch – I love its products and designs. The lady was tied up with another couple for most of the night, so I ended up speaking to the sales person from Roma. I hadn’t really looked at Roma before, but I found some great designs.
You can see the style I’m going for 😉 I think I like the one above, the best. It’s £78 a roll FYI.
I’d highly recommend, if you can, ordering large samples of paper. If you order samples online they tend to be quite small and to get the best idea of the design working in your room, you’ll need something a bit bigger. Especially if the patter is as large as the ones here. Roma said if you ask Remnant Kings they can supply a larger sample!
I came across this fabulous linen-textured fabric. It reminded me a bit of Timorous Beasties
There were VIP gift bags last night which included a beautiful woven scarf. In my speed to get back to my car because I was en route to dinner, I didn’t get one on the way out. Damn!
If you’re into interiors and looking for inspo I’d definitely recommend a trip to the new store. It’s bright, spacious and obviously has a lot of brands and products to choose from.
Tip: If you park in the ‘open air’ St Enoch Centre carpark at the back of the centre, you can walk round to Remnant Kings – it’s a 3 minute walk. It’s probably easier than the NCP!
Thanks for reading my post. If you enjoyed it and liked some of the products, please click the share button now, as other people may enjoy it too.
About Remnant Kings
“We have a rich heritage in the fabric industry having begun trading in 1946 by Frank McKeon and James King, two brothers-in-law who shared the same drive and passion to provide the best fabric range at the best possible prices. They liked nothing better than to see customers leaving the shop with a genuine bargain and a smile on their face. The Remnant Kings reputation quickly spread and people travelled from all over Scotland to the shop in Glasgow’s east end. Over the years the company has expanded and we now have 5 fabric stores in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Falkirk and Hamilton. Although our roots are in fabric remnants we now sell fabrics sourced from around the globe including designer names Harlequin, Moon, Voyage, Lorient, Casamance, Casadeco, Clarke & Clarke, Prestigious Textiles, Brian Yates plus many more.”
